Instrument Marking

Enhance existing hospital infection control process for instrument identification through asset management and instrument marking. The process of 2D laser-marking on instruments is fast, clean, and inexpensive but provides invaluable traceability.

Scantrack’s strategic relationship with GS1 was instrumental to the implementation of the GS1 code resulting in extensive knowledge of instrument marking and Scantrack continue to monitor developments in this area.

Key Benefits

  • Scantrack laser marking meets NICE guidance
  • Instrument marking applied using tried and tested laser marking methods
  • Extensive experience in laser marking
  • Highly skilled trained laser marking technicians
  • Extensive testing replicating decontamination cycle for 2 years usage.

The marks are permanent and resilient to day to day use, and has been tested against a number of aggressive agents to assess its durability, these include several common strong acids, bases, organic solvents and extreme heat or cold. The method utilised by Scantrack will not affect the manufacturer’s warranty on the instrument.

By using a 2D Data Matrix bar-coding format, the information that can be associated to the instrument meets the NICE guidance on instrument tracking. This can include, but not limited to, Instrument Name, Set with which it belongs, Location and Preferred Owner.
